"Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a licence for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord." (Jude 1:3-4)
I wish to commend to you a new website, Anglican Reality Check.
This new website is thoroughly excellent and most helpful.
In the past 22 years, a lot has changed in the Anglican landscape at home and around the world. The changes have happened gradually, so that it can be hard to keep track of the key developments that make up the still-unfolding story.
This website, Anglican Reality Check, seeks to do just that. It maps out succinctly the key turning points along the way, making it a handy reference to see what's happened.
Each item contains links to the relevant primary documents and news reports, so that there are sources and pointers for further reading on each development. This allows you to read deeper if you're interested, and to check out the facts for yourself. This means the website is also a chronological index for a great many important detailed reports.
Clearly no website like this can be comprehensive. It may be that there are events you feel should have been included, and equally that some here were not important enough to warrant inclusion.
Equally clearly, any project like this is offering an interpretation of the events. It may be that you would quibble with the exact angle taken in reporting particular events.
The fact you might want to equivocate over exactly which events are included and how some are relayed does not make this any the less useful. It still provides a very helpful reference point for an important and developing story.
I believe the intention is to keep this website updated as fresh developments occur.
I commend it to you.
