Software

Here is a selection of software. Some, I have written. Others are by other people, but are software which I use and would recommend.

This page is a little thin on the ground at the moment. I'll be adding more items of software as time progresses.

You can click on the menu on the left to filter on one of those two categories. You can also click there to view a list of the software items, if you find this page (with a teaser for each entry) slightly hard to read.

Mandelbrot Explorer is my biggest software project.

It is free software to allow exploration of the Mandelbrot Set and family of Julia Sets.

The current version is 3.3.

Notepad++ is a free text editor.

There is a text editor that comes with Microsoft Windows, called Notepad. It doesn't do very much. Notepad++ is a far more intuitive replacement, that is better at things like Search and Replace, indenting lines, selecting whole words / lines / paragraphs etc.

Opera Mini

Opera Mini 6Opera Software produces a range of web browsers; I use their desktop browser for my day-to-day web browsing.

For some time, they've also produced Web Browsers targeted at mobile phones and other handheld devices. Traditionally, they've had two such products. Opera Mobile is designed for high-memory devices, and runs in native code, whereas Opera Mini has been its light-weight cousin.
