How far inland is Jerusalem

It turns out you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. Or at least, if the internet gives you some information, use a bit of common sense to check you've been given an answer that feels right, rather than just taking things uncritically and at face value.

I wanted to know how far it was from Jerusalem to the Mediterranean.

So I asked Google:

From Jerusalem to the Sea - take 1

You what? 1000 miles?

Well, I suppose it depends where in the Mediterranean you wanted to go. The middle of the label for "Mediterranean Sea" on the map, obviously.

Er, ... not. I wanted to know the distance to the coast. If you lived in Jerusalem, and wanted to go to the seaside, how far would you have to go?

Well, let's measure it:

Jerusalem to the Sea - take 2

About 50km then. Or 30 miles.

I did same thing!  You saved me the extra work of measuring as your post was directly below the map to the middle!
