Not so with you

R T France is very helpful on what Jesus expects of his disciples. He comments on Mark 10:

“If v. 31 served as a summary of Jesus’ teaching about status up to that point, v. 43a now offers a further ‘slogan’ which encapsulates the revolutionary effect of his teaching about the kingdom of God: οὐχ οὑτως ἐστιν ἐν ὑμιν (It shall not be like this amongst you). The ‘natural’ assumptions and valuations by which people operate no longer apply in the kingdom of God. It is a genuinely alternative society.”
