Science and Christianity

I’m delighted to see that David Field is putting a series of notes about the relationship between Science and Christianity on his blog.

I hope I’m not the only member of St James church in Audley who thinks that bits of this look familiar. In essence, David’s material is an apologetic against the view that science and Christianity are inherently opposed to one another. Any scientist who thinks that because they are a scientist they cannot be Christian needs to read David’s 8 points carefully.

To date, we have

  • and the first point proper that examines “epistemological reductionism, otherwise known as thick-head syndrome”.

I love the Colossians 1 quotation with which he begins. Basically, you can’t be a scientist of integrity and not relate your scientific study to Jesus Christ: “In Jesus all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17)
